Siebold’s Aquarium
During his stay in Japan as a physician at the Dutch trade factory in Deshima (Nagasaki) in the 19th century, Philp Franz von Siebold collected many Japanese artifacts and zoological and botanical specimens.
This exhibition shows several specimens of fish from the Siebold collection of the Naturalis Museum of Natural History in Leiden, as well as drawings made for Siebold by the Japanese artist Keiga Kawahara.
