• Announcements • Zen retreat with Paul Jaffe in Miki: July or Sept?

An Invitation to Freedom
“To study the Buddha Way is to study the self, to study the self is to forget the self, and to forget the self is to be enlightened by the ten thousand things.”

The cultural event this year will take place near Miki City, north of Kobe in Hyogo Prefecture, in a private temple complex, where meditation teacher Paul Jaffe will lead us away from the hectic everyday life into the realms of the inner Universe of peace and awareness.

This will be a weekend retreat starting at lunchtime Saturday, till Sunday afternoon.

Where
Zofukuji is a private temple with two buildings providing rooms for overnight stay, kitchens and meeting rooms.  (Temple’s website: http://zofukuji.web.fc2.com/index-eng.html)

Participants
We need at least 10 participants, and outsiders are encouraged to join. This will be a once in a lifetime unique experience and everybody will surely be impressed with Paul’s teaching skills.

The retreat is for serious people that are interested in exploring the enigma of meditation. In order to enhance the experience, meals are served without alcohol and people are advised to remain silent during the meals. Smoking is not encouraged in the temple complex. For those who wish to opt out temporarily, there will be enough space to select a location to relax in other ways. There are also hiking trails very near the temple, or a visit to a very famous nearby temple (and onsen) is possible.
The teachings of Paul promise to provide much more than just a touristic route through Zen.
