Osaka city has many hidden treasures and amongst them are the down town street scenes that will show a completely different picture of Japan. Mr. Ueda will give us a guided tour through the Osaka you never see. From the Day Labour hang outs, the Osaka sweat shops, to the red light district, which makes you wonder why Amsterdam is so famous for its walletjes.
After the tour we can enjoy a traditional Japanese meal at Ueda-san’s own restaurant Amane.
13:00 meeting at Subway “EBISU-CHO” exit number 3.
Ebisu-cho is on the Sakai Suji subway line (From Higashi Umeda, take the Tani Machi line to Minami Mori Machi, then change to Sakai Suji line one stop towards Ebisu Cho )
CD manufacture “Sawano Kohboh”
Sawano is originally old-fashioned traditional shoes shop.
The present master of this shop Mr.Sawano started music activities. He works collabolatively with foreign jazz players.
include Dutch artists. He creates many CDs and enjoys a good reputation.
Tsutenkaku (entrance fee 600yen):
This is the symbol tower of Osaka. You can enjoy panorama view from the top floor. On top it has Biliken shrine. Biliken is the symbol of this area. Tsutenkaku is also a museum. You can enjoy Taisho and early Showa period.
Shinsekai area
Old fashioned eating shopping and amusement area. Many low cost reataurants, shops theaters for Enka and popular play.
Jan-Jan is a narrow eating street. “Jan-Jan” came from the sound of Shamisen. In old days, both sides were covered with Geishas,
and they played Shamisen, “Jan-Jan”.

So in this area you van enjoy the view of old fashioned typical Japanese Shitamachi.
Houses are mainly Nagaya, long houses. From Meiji, Taisho and Showa period.
Ojizo-san is the buddha for children. Neighbours are taking care of the Ojizo-san.
A shop has a hundred years old atmosphere.
